This Labor Day, we are only two months away from an election that will determine the future for American workers. There has never been a more important time for solidarity.

Essential workers are risking their health every day to keep us safe, fed, and protected — often earning low wages with precarious job security.

And Donald Trump’s Republican party wants to keep essential workers down while showering corporations with tax cuts and government contracts.

To show solidarity with essential workers keeping America moving, I worked with Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney to introduce the Pandemic Heroes Compensation Act to establish a compensation fund for essential workers.

The rights that we have won for workers are thanks to our American labor movement, that against great odds, built one of the largest middle classes the world has ever seen.

Today, Trumpism and the billionaires who fund Republican Super PACs pose a threat to that middle class.

Their vision of America is one where workers are subjected to the whims of employers who can pay workers less than a living wage in unsafe working conditions.

We can’t let this unpatriotic vision win. American workers are counting on us to stand in solidarity with them and demand economic justice.
