John,
Labor Day is always an important time for us to reflect on the history of the labor movement and our contributions as union activists to our communities.
As activists, we've learned to stand up for others, fight for what's right, and uplift the dignity of all work. This Labor Day, I'm proud to be in this fight with all of you as we stand on the shoulders of labor leaders who've come before us. This year we've faced many challenges, and I know that together we can meet this moment with persistence and resolve.
Together we're journeying through a public health crisis that many of us have never experienced before. We're beating back attacks on collective bargaining, workplace safety, and our voice on the job. We're challenging ourselves to be bolder and stronger when it comes to fighting for racial and social justice.
And if I know anything about AFGE, it's that we are a fighting union. We're strong in our convictions and committed to moving our union forward. Over the next few months, we'll need to mobilize our collective strength to elect leaders that truly embody the spirit and ideals of working people.
I'm ready to get to work, and I know you are too. Thank you for being a part of our union family.
Happy Labor Day!
In Solidarity,
Dr. Everett Kelley
AFGE National President
