Understanding Racial Economic Inequality in Savings Program Design, Part 2

Join the Racial Wealth Equity Network and the Savings Network on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 2-3:30 pm ET for the second part in a two-part webinar series on understanding and addressing racial wealth inequality in savings programs.

Co-hosted by Prosperity Now’s Parker Cohen and Brick-by-Brick Consulting’s Shenell Thompson, this webinar will explore the design of savings programs to address racial wealth inequities for low- and moderate-income households of color. We’ll speak with community practitioners about the institutional and systemic barriers that shape the financial lives, economic opportunities and service uptake of people of color, all with a specific focus on savings. Bring your own programmatic insights, your questions and your colleagues to what promises to be a dynamic discussion!

In the first part [[link removed]] of our webinar series, we heard from a panel of practitioners about how they’ve been exploring racial wealth equity in their communities and what that means for financial capability programs. In this conversation, we will take this a step further and discuss how to develop savings programs that are designed with racial wealth equity in mind. Join us and a panel of expert practitioners as we explore questions like:

What assumptions need to be challenged? How do we involve communities in the development of solutions? How do we make our programs truly responsive to the dynamic needs of communities?
