Dear friend and climate advocate,
Happy Labor Day.
Labor Day was founded in the late 19th century as a way to pay tribute to the significant social and economic achievements fueled by our nation's workers. Now more than ever before, we need forward thinking and unbiased legislation that sets up our workers for success in the coming decades as we transition to a clean energy economy.
CEJA puts workers first, with a plan to
create a diverse and equitable clean energy workforce as well as
a just transition to a clean energy economy for impacted workers and communities. The bill would create thousands of clean energy jobs without hiking rates or raising taxes. It includes pathways for an equitable recovery from the economic challenges caused by COVID-19 and addresses the current and historic issues of environmental injustice. It is without a doubt the most ambitious and meaningful energy legislation ever introduced in Illinois.
And Illinois and its workers have waited long enough: over 500 days have passed since 350 Chicago and our partners in the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition introduced the Clean Energy Jobs Act.
82% of Illinois voters support CEJA, and
74% of voters polled say CEJA should be passed immediately and not delayed until next year.
#CEJACantWait, and neither can we.
Take action today:
tell your legislators and Governor Pritzker to pass the Clean Energy Jobs Act.
Thank you, and have a Happy Labor Day.
Team 350 Chicago
