Nurse Practitioner Helped Design Holistic Dementia Care Program
The UCLA Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Program, developed in part by a nurse practitioner, aims to help the patient and reduce stress for both patient and caregiver by taking into account &ldquo;the medical, behavioral, and social aspects of the patient&rsquo;s situation.&rdquo; Early results show a drop in the need for patients to enter long-term care.

Mentor Program Helps Students Graduate, Succeed
In it's publication, the National Black Nurses Association spotlights a workshop designed to support nursing students, particularly at historically black colleges and universities. The training program is the result of a collaborative effort including the Campaign and the Office of Minority Health, and guides mentors whose partnerships with students lead to increased retention and graduation rates.

Data&mdash;lots of data&mdash;show that advanced practice registered nurses can and do play a huge role in giving Americans easier access to high-quality care. Nurses' Health Study Needs You! And Other Nurses
Over decades, the information provided by the Nurses' Health Study has led to much of what we know today about health and disease. The third such study, NHS3, now seeks 100,000 nurses and nursing students to get involved and so contribute much-needed data, including information to assist in addressing health disparities.

Sigma Foundation, Jonas Philanthropies Launch Research Grant
A new fund, the Sigma Foundation for Nursing/Jonas Philanthropies collaborative research grant, is designed to support nursing research that will help improve health care for the most vulnerable citizens of the U.S. Grants are available in three categories: mental health, rural health, and veterans health care. Application deadline: December 1.

Nursing Education Perspectives will devote its fall 2020 issue to The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health report, 10 years after its publication.
