The devastating fires raging across the Amazon rainforest – endangering indigenous peoples, destroying pristine forests, and threatening our global climate – have galvanized our movement like never before. Hundreds of protests are taking place, and global leaders have responded by condemning Bolsonaro's threats to "open the Amazon for business."

We need to seize the moment and stand in solidarity with the indigenous peoples fighting to defend their rights and homes. Business as usual must stop, and that is why we joined with the National Association of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil to call for a Global Day of Action for the Amazon on Thursday, September 5th. Global citizens are planning actions on every continent – from New Zealand and South Africa to Bulgaria and Ireland – as well as in many states across the U.S. We will make our voices heard at Brazilian embassies and consulates and also at the offices and stores of the "Dirty Dozen" corporations that are profiting from Amazon destruction.

Join the Global Day of Action for the Amazon however you can! That could be a sit-in, a march, a vigil, a movie night, or a teach-in to raise awareness about the importance of the Amazon and the rights of its indigenous inhabitants. Our website will help you to find an action near you and provide resources to support your efforts. If there's not an action close to you, plan your own and invite your friends!
