BREAKING: The government announces plans to tear up the Withdrawal Agreement.

Late last night, the UK said it will back out of key parts of this international treaty, risking the collapse of EU-UK trade talks. 

If this goes ahead, Britain will lose its reputation as trustworthy nation – just as we are trying to renegotiate new trade deals across the world.

We cannot back out of international agreements less than a year after we signed them. Our international standing will be in tatters.

I am also deeply worried about the impact this decision will have here at home. This decision would back out of commitment not to put a hard border on the island Ireland. This would tear up the Good Friday Agreement and could cause untold instability.

Rather than make sensible compromises to get the ‘oven-ready’ deal we were all promised, the government wants to go back on its promises to prepare for a no deal.

The British people deserve better than this. Get your MP to speak to the Prime Minister and tell him to stick to the Agreement he signed on our behalf.  Tell them to work with MPs of all parties to make sure Britain sticks to its international commitments. Send a message to your MP now!

How can any other country take Britain's word if our Prime Minister proves that we're willing to ignore our promises. How on earth are we going to get all those trade deals we need?

Britain is at a cross-roads as a nation. Will we be a trustworthy nation who keeps its promises to its people and to the rest of the world? Or is will we be an international pariah, facing global challenges alone?
