Many people have been a little confused with all of this USPS news, so I'm hoping to clear it up.
The USPS is a constitutionally mandated service that delivers critical mail such as medication, paperwork, bills, and more. But Donald Trump is working hard to dismantle it.
After refusing to provide the Postal Service with federal assistance that it needs to continue functioning, Trump appointed one of his major donors as Postmaster General, despite lacking the typically required experience for the position.
Since taking on the role, PMG DeJoy has implemented detrimental changes to U.S. Mail. As a result, mail has been delayed and lost, postal hours have been restricted, collection boxes have disappeared, and important mail sorting machines have been removed.
These harmful changes are part of Trump's master scheme to limit mail-in voting so that he can suppress our votes and steal the election.
We cannot let that happen. This election year is one of the most important of our lifetime, and we're not going to let the pandemic or Trump prevent us from getting our votes in — whether it's by mail, early voting, or at the ballot box on Election Day.
With exactly 60 days left until the general election, we've got to stand up and fight back against Trump's voter suppression tactics. Our right to vote is what gives us power in our democracy, and Donald Trump is NOT going to take that power away from us.
