I promise this email isn’t all negative — quite the contrary — but I do have a bit of bad news to get out of the way:

We're currently coming up short on our August fundraising goal. Not by much, but in a race as close as this one, every dollar matters.

But I’m not about to hit the panic switch just yet, and I’ll tell you why in just a second. But if you’re in a hurry, or you’re already thinking, I’m ready to help WIN this thing, please consider chipping in $10 or $25 before you go!

I’m confident that we can overcome this and any other obstacle because our campaign is built different. Let me explain:

Tens of thousands of people, including Democrats, Republicans, independents, and everyone in between, have chipped in to support this grassroots campaign. But that’s only part of the story.

Because Iowans aren’t — and shouldn’t be — defined by political parties, and when you dig deeper, you can see who is behind this grassroots movement:

We’ve received donations from farmers, teachers, nurses, bus drivers, servers, police officers, mechanics, and electricians. We’re backed by students, veterans, and retirees.

Corporate PAC money? That’s gonna be a ‘no’ from me.

But my opponent Zach Lahn is supported by big-money partisan insiders, and he’s banking on that being enough to buy his way into the Governor’s office.

I need your help proving him wrong, because right now, his attacks are relentless.

Will you help me build the biggest, baddest, most energized coalition Iowa has ever seen so that we can win this hotly contested race and move Iowa forward?
