The Supreme Court just cleared the way for Trump to control who gets a mail-in ballot this November.

Monday's ruling means USPS can now resume demanding voter roll data directly from states. At the same time, DHS can keep running those rolls through the “SAVE” citizenship database. The Trump admin’s plan is to cross-reference state voter data against SAVE's citizenship flags, and use any match to justify denying mail-in ballot delivery to that voter altogether.

Here in Louisiana, we do not have to guess what happens when this rolls out nationwide. That’s because we were the guinea pigs for Trump’s election rigging database:

With the enthusiastic cooperation of our MAGA-occupied state government, Louisiana was one of the first states the Trump admin used to test DHS's "SAVE" database.

After they plugged our voting rolls into the database, out of nearly 3 million registered Louisiana voters, officials only turned up just a few hundred flagged names—almost all decades old. Our own Secretary of State admitted the true number is likely smaller still because the underlying data is riddled with errors:

Now they’re rolling out this tool to the rest of the country, not not because it worked well, but because it didn’t.

This tool was never about accuracy. It’s meant to give state officials cover to purge eligible voters off the rolls, disproportionately Democrats, and hand the Trump admin an excuse to challenge results the moment MAGA loses an election.

In the words of Kamala Harris at the Louisiana Democrats annual state dinner just weeks ago: "Louisiana is ground zero." MAGA treats our state as the laboratory for their most insidious ideas, most recently canceling an ongoing election under a "state of emergency" and eliminating one of our majority-Black Democratic districts.
