What happens when ordinary people take on the fossil fuel industry —a true vs Goliath struggle of people vs money and power? That’s the question the VS. GOLIATH mini-series seeks to answer.

Tune in to the third screening, September 1st at 8PM-9:15 ET / 5PM-6:15 PT will show VS GOLIATH: Greater Chaco, followed by a Q&A with frontline leaders featured in the episode and Dallas Goldtooth, moderated by Judith Le Blanc.

The sacred Greater Chaco region of New Mexico, ancestral homeland of the Pueblo and Diné (Navajo) peoples, is under siege from a relentless surge of oil and gas extraction. After a life-changing call to Standing Rock, young Sandia Pueblo leader Julia Bernal returns home to confront the same forces threatening her own community. Uniting with Diné elder Daniel Tso and an intergenerational coalition, they lead a powerful fight to defend tribal sovereignty and protect Chaco for future generations.

The post-screening conversation will feature Diné elder Daniel Tso, Diné community organizer Mario Atencio, and Dakota/Diné activist, writer, and actor Dallas Goldtooth, and will be moderated by Judith Le Blanc, executive director of the Native Organizers Alliance.

Sharon, 70, has lived in St. James, Louisiana all her life, and she's watched it turn from the lush and productive farmland of her youth into one of the most polluted places in the country, now known as "Cancer Alley." When another huge petrochemical plant is announced for St. James, God tells Sharon to fight back. Follow Sharon and her daughter, Sharmyra, as they wrestle with how to build a better future for St. James. Sharon Lavigne and Shamyra Lavigne-Davey (of RISE St James), and Darryl Malek-Wiley (of the Sierra Club Louisiana) joined Bill McKibben for the post-screening discussion, and took audience questions.
~~August 4 — VS. GOLIATH: Appalachia:~~ In this episode we met Army veteran Russell. He swore an oath to protect and serve his country, but, as the waters, forests, and way of life he called home came under threat, he banded together with farmers and Indigenous leaders to defend his community from the domestic threat of the Mountain Valley pipeline. Wielding innovative and tried-and-true resistance tactics, this Appalachian community takes on a devastating project, backed by a shadowy corporation and one of the nation’s most powerful politicians.
