As the coronavirus pandemic continues to take hard-working people’s lives, educators across the country are telling their elected leaders that we can reopen schools #OnlyWhenItsSafe. (News flash: It’s not safe yet.)
In states where public schools have opened, like in Florida, Georgia and Texas, school workers and students are getting sick. Usually these schools are underfunded, poorly ventilated and don’t have the right number of healthcare professionals on site.
This feels too familiar: Right here in Delaware, poultry workers were forced to work in close quarters for long hours. At just one plant, more than half of the 300 workers had COVID.
I promise to always stand up for people’s right to a safe workplace. This weekend, we’re raising $9,150 so I can advocate for our country’s essential workers from the Senate floor. We’re just $5,318 from that goal.
