John —
I know we ask a lot of you. The fact is, our work depends on a strong grassroots base.
But today, I'm not asking you to make a donation or volunteer your time. I'm asking you simply to raise your hand.
The other side has a built-in advantage in the fight for democracy. They're not just trying to rip power away from voters by changing the laws and gerrymandering maps — they know that the more chaos they throw into our elections, the more they can sow doubt about our democratic institutions. They want people to get overwhelmed and hide away from the problems.
Sadly, it might be starting to work. I've heard from some friends who can't bring themselves to pay as close attention as they have in the past. When people stop caring as much, or — worse — stop believing that the will of the voters will ultimately prevail, it makes our job harder.
Right now, our team needs to punch back against this trend. We’re faced with an unprecedented series of attacks on democracy, voting, and fair maps. Our mission is to fight like hell — to organize, to boost voter participation, and to ensure that cynical politicians don't succeed at breaking our democracy.
So all I’m asking today is to say you're with us. It might sound simple, but that's the point — will you click here and tell us you believe in this work protecting our democracy from cynical, partisan attacks?
After 250 years of this American experiment, we find ourselves in an existential fight for representative democracy. Thank you for being part of it with us.
