John,

We’ve been focused on Wisconsin since the very beginning of the NDR PAC's work. For years, it was a poster child for how Republicans could manipulate maps to lock in power.

I saw it firsthand when I lived there — and in 2011, I spent weeks sleeping on the cold, marble floor of the state capitol building in protest of then-Gov. Walker’s anti-democracy power grab.

But over the past decade, we've broken down that GOP stronghold on the maps by electing pro-democracy leaders and judges who believe in fair maps.

Now, that progress is on the line in this midterm election — from the highly contested governor's race to state legislative races that hold the keys to majorities in both chambers.

Each party believes they have a path to win a trifecta — and thus control so much about voting and legislative maps in the years ahead. Republicans think they can take us backward.

We’re fighting back through our Democracy Defender program, which aims to win the most critical state-level elections in the fight for fair maps all across the country. For a lot of states, these elections could be the whole ballgame.

Tomorrow, we’re just 10 weeks from Election Day — donate now to help the NDR PAC reach our fundraising goal to ensure that we make this a monumental November for democracy: [[link removed]]

As someone who spends all day thinking about redistricting policies — AND as someone who grew up in a purple state where Republicans got away for years with stealing power — I am so proud of what the fair maps movement has achieved for the Badger State.

What happened in Wisconsin is a big reason President Obama and Attorney General Holder founded the NDR PAC — and the work we’ve done has paid off.

But now our progress is on the line this November — make a gift today as we double down on our efforts to keep power in the hands of the people by electing Democracy Defenders in Wisconsin and across the country: [[link removed]]
