Dear John,

To say that 2020 has been challenging for working people is an understatement. From the ongoing economic and health crises stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, to the uprisings and social justice movements happening across the country in response to police and extremist violence, it feels like an uncertain time for so many of us. What rights we still had seem to be evaporating and it's getting harder than ever to afford the basics to support ourselves and our families. Even as the pandemic exposed our greatest weaknesses, we see greedy CEOs and their allies continue to exploit working people.

They then try to pit us against each other based on race, class, ethnicity, immigration status, religious affiliation or sexual orientation – but we won’t let them.

This Labor Day we need your support to defend ourselves from the assaults on working people and position our movement for big wins in the coming months. Will you show your solidarity to working families and donate today to Jobs With Justice? We can unlock a special matching gift but only if we raise $2,000 by midnight on Labor Day! NOW is the time to get your donation in!

Here are just some of the ways we are responding to attacks and fighting with working people during the COVID-19 crisis:

·        Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jobs With Justice has demanded a moratorium on rent and mortgage payments as a means of financial relief for working people who are out of work or in need. We saw success when major corporate landlord American Campus Communities committed $17 million in rent forgiveness, and we continue to put pressure on major Wall Street landlords like Blackstone, Greystar, Equity Residential, FirstKey Homes, and Lincoln Property Company.

·        We just launched the Advancing Black Strategists Initiative, a new project designed to create a cohort of Black strategists to lead policies and campaigns that advance the collective power of working people.

·        Together with partner organizations, we are leading the charge to protect Essential Workers, exploring innovative pathways for workers to negotiate with their employers to protect themselves and prevent community spread of the virus.

We continue to find new ways to support working people who are coming together to create the healthy democracy we all need. As the attacks on working communities increase, so does the resiliency and innovation in our movement.

We can succeed if we have people like you on our side. With your help, we will win and rewrite the rules for an economy that benefits everyone. This Labor Day, support Jobs With Justice and put working people first.

In Solidarity,
