The eight-hour workday. Workplace safety. Sick leave.
I'm proud of the work Oregon has always done to lead the nation in supporting unions and labor workers. In fact, we were the first state in the nation to make Labor Day an official public holiday.
Overtime pay. Whistleblower protections. Lunch breaks.
In Congress, I've been proud to fight on behalf of workers against every job-killing "free trade" agreement; for quality, affordable health care for everyone, not just the super-wealthy; and for an economy that rewards hard work, not reckless gambling.
Child Labor Laws. Unemployment insurance. Weekends.
I spent yesterday thinking of the fearless members of the labor movement who stepped up and sacrificed blood, sweat, and time in the fight for workers' rights.
The fight's not over. We must continue to keep up the good work by always demanding humane conditions of any facility. By fighting for fair wages. By marching for what is right.
I'm honored to stand on the side of workers and you can guarantee that I always will.
Peter
