The last few months have been a whirlwind for me personally, but that pales in comparison to the increasing levels of chaos and discord that have afflicted our country over the last three and a half years. Americans deserve better, but we can turn the tide only if we vote and demand that the powerful be held accountable.

Conversations like the one we had with many of you last night remind me not only what is at stake, but what is possible when we work together. It’s been an honor getting to know Qasim and his character and positions stand in stark relief to the current congressman who has continually failed Virginia’s first district. Qasim’s platform affirms that we don’t just need to defeat Donald, we need to repudiate all of those who stand with him.

This country is at an inflection point and we face a crucial test: Will we be resolute in our defense of inalienable rights? Will we defend compassion, virtue, and inclusion as fundamental American values? Or will we sit idle as Donald's supporters attack Black lives, Trans lives, and immigrants’ lives?

This is our moment and we must refuse to stay silent. We must reject the despotism and hatred of the current administration and rise above the darkness that threatens our way of life.
