Taking action from protest to power.

Jesús "Chuy" García for Congress

We are going to get through the coronavirus outbreak together. If you are experiencing symptoms or are looking for more information, you can visit the website of the CDC or the Illinois Department of Health. We are closely monitoring the situation and its effects on the people of Illinois and our nation as we work together to keep our families and communities safe.

John,

First: ICE announced their plans for a “Citizens Academy” — a taxpayer-funded class that included “defensive tactics, firearms familiarization and targeted arrests.” This program would have encouraged vigilantes and violence towards Latino and immigrant communities.

Then: Team Chuy, Chicagoland, and activists across the country responded. Organizers and community members mobilized to shut down this program and the xenophobia and hate it promotes.

Now: ICE is postponing the program at least until the spring thanks to community-powered movements taking a stand.

This is an important victory for our community — and an important reminder of why we organize. In order to stop Trump, we need to continue empowering our communities, getting out the vote, and shutting down xenophobia and hate.

Postponing the launch of this “Citizens Academy” isn’t enough. It needs to be shut down for good.

Make a contribution of $5 or whatever you can today to help us continue to organize, fight for, and expand our grassroots movement >>>

Our community, and communities like ours, are the first line of defense against Trumpism. Let’s make sure we have the tools we need to grow our movement and fight back.

¡Sí se puede!
