I was so excited last weekend to receive the endorsement of Martin Sheen, also known as President Josiah Bartlet on The West Wing -- my favorite show of all time.

Martin has devoted himself to activism and advancing progressive causes, including many of the same issues that I plan to fight for in Congress: ensuring that healthcare is accessible, protecting our environment, and getting big money out of politics.

Fictional characters and good storytelling can inspire us to work for change in the real world, just like our massive grassroots movement is doing. I am proud to have the support of Martin Sheen, but I also need your help. Will you please donate to my campaign so we can flip a swing district from red to blue in November?

The West Wing inspired me to believe that government can and should be a positive force in people’s lives. It was the show that first introduced me to the idea that politics can be a vehicle for bringing about policy change. Years later, it feels like I've come full circle as I fight for the progressive and equitable policies that President Bartlet would've been proud of.

As Martin made clear, we're in the most important election of our lifetimes. The people of NY-24 deserve a leader who prioritizes their wellbeing and success. However, Trump-endorsing John Katko has left them on the sidelines -- and I need your help to defeat him in a race where polls show us statistically tied.

President Bartlet would famously ask, "what's next?" What's next for the people of central and western New York depends on what we do over 59 days. In the face of millions in spending from Republicans, we're working hard to organize virtually, keep our ads on the air, and make sure every voter has the information they need to cast a ballot.
