Friends,

Since Trump took office in 2016 we’ve seen headline after headline about women stepping up to run.

While the increase in women running for office is great news, unfortunately so many states are still lagging significantly when it comes to women’s overall political participation. In fact, the Institute for Women’s Policy Research just released some comprehensive data on the status of women in politics in the United States – and, there’s no way to sugarcoat the grade of some of these states.

Want to know where your state falls when it comes to women’s political participation? Find out here. [link removed]

Thirty-six (!!!) states are ranked at a ‘D’ or lower. It’s no surprise that some of the states at the top of the list are places where Emerge has a significant network and intensive programming to recruit women to run and lead.

Of the top ten states, Emerge has statewide training programs in seven of them. We know that when we invest in women, the entire community benefits. Check out where your state falls here. [link removed]

Thanks for being a part of this critical work,

This email was sent to [email protected]. Emerge is a national organization working to recruit, train, and get Democratic women elected across the country, and we are so grateful to have you on our team. Our alums are strong voices for Democratic values — and they are working to bring their values up and down the ballot to fight for working families. They are fighting for critical issues that affect our communities like the environment, accessible and affordable healthcare, social justice and education equity. We need more alums fighting for us across the country.

Email is the best way for us to keep you informed about what’s happening with our work. You may notice that we send a lot of emails asking for your support—that’s because we win when everyone does what they can to help. Our organization depends on thousands of actual people who care about our democracy and want to see positive change in our communities and across our country by building power through investing in Democratic women.
