It sounds extreme―but it’s true. Look at how even Fox Business News1 is reporting Trump’s plan:
The headline was echoed across CNN,2 NBC,3 The Hill,4 and more, and Social Security Works members sprang into action, making thousands of calls this week to tell Congress to stop Trump’s evil scheme!
SSW President Nancy Altman has been a key voice raising the alarm about the grave danger that this presents. CNN ran her warning as an oped:5

“If Donald Trump is reelected, Social Security will cease to exist before the end of his second term.”
Nancy and Social Security Works members are shaping the debate that’s breaking into the mainstream media. The funding crisis that Donald Trump is creating is sparking outrage that could cost him the election. Here’s the Washington Post on the reaction of some workers:7
MarketWatch8 called it “Trump’s election year gamble: Messing with Social Security and Medicare” in an article that quoted Nancy, saying “I do think this is a very serious threat to Social Security if (Trump) is re-elected. It’s a declaration of war against everyone’s economic security.”
Democratic leaders are joining Social Security Works’ call to resist Trump’s attempt to raid Social Security: “President Trump’s plan to eliminate Social Security’s dedicated funding would endanger seniors’ Social Security and could mean the end of Social Security as we know it by 2023,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said, according to NBC News.9 Speaker Nancy Pelosi added that the analysis “shows the swift potential devastation of President Trump’s reckless call to ‘terminate’ the payroll tax: shattering the sacred promise of Social Security.”
