September 21st is Zero Emissions Day! Since 2008, this annual event has been challenging citizens of the world to live one day with little or no fossil fuel usage, "giving our planet one day off a year" from oil, gas, and coal emissions.
To commemorate the day, the team here at 350 Chicago has organized a peer-to-peer fundraising event through Give Lively. What is Give Lively? It's a peer-to-peer fundraising platform that leverages social media to raise money for a cause by asking your own friends and followers to make a donation. This allows YOU to help 350 Chicago directly, simply, and easily through your own fundraising page.
Setting up your fundraising page only takes a few minutes: create a profile, add a personalized message and a donation goal, upload your favorite picture of yourself doing something environmentally-friendly, and then share it on your social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram). It’s just that easy!
Curious to see just how easy it is? 350 Chicago Board Treasurer Sylvia Panek will demonstrate this swift fundraising page setup process during our next monthly meeting on September 12th.
The 350 Chicago Fundraising Team has also created this kit with sample posts that you can use when promoting your fundraiser on social media. Feel free to add your own personalized messages, too.
Most importantly, let’s have some fun with this!
Watch for updates from us over the next 2 weeks with further instructions for social media posting, and let’s all pitch in to help the 350 Chicago team meet its goal of raising $2000!
If you would simply prefer to donate to 350 Chicago, visit our Donation Page and choose either your one-time donation or monthly donation amount.
While we understand budgets are tight during this difficult time of pandemic, we welcome any contribution; every dollar counts. Even donations of $5 can help us continue our fight to have the City of Chicago divest from fossil fuel assets, support CEJA and efforts to increase clean energy infrastructure and jobs in Illinois, and move forward with all of our other work on behalf of climate and the planet.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask.
