When I first ran for office, I didn’t set out to break barriers. I ran
because I wanted to fight hard for Wisconsin families.
Very quickly, I learned that no obstacle is too big when the fight is
worth it.
That's how I became Wisconsin's first woman ever elected to Congress. And
when I won my Senate seat, I became the first openly LGBTQ+ Senator in
U.S. history.

I’m proud of those firsts. But the barrier I care most about breaking is
the one that keeps working families locked out of a fair shot.
I’ve worked across party lines to strengthen economic security for
Wisconsinites — investing in our state’s job readiness, expanding access
to quality health care, and protecting retirement security.
There is so much more we can accomplish together, and breaking down
barriers so more people can join the fight is exactly how we’re going to
do it.
I didn't get here alone, and we won't keep this progress alone either.
