Fellow Conservative,

Before we dive into our continuing effort to Fight for America, make sure to watch Jessica Anderson interview Congressman Ken Buck about his new book, Capitol of Freedom: Restoring American Greatness. This timely conversation addresses how the far Left has rejected the Constitution in hopes to implement their socialist agenda. Congressman Buck argues that we must reclaim our heritage of liberty by applying the principles we learn through the U.S. Capitol’s art, architecture, and artifacts. Watch here.

Also, Heritage Action’s Grassroots Director Janae Stracke joined The Heritage Foundation’s Problematic Women Podcast this past week to discuss our Fight For America campaign. Janae was joined by Sentinel Jeanne Seaver who talked about her recent success and strategy in getting elected officials in Georgia signed onto the Police Pledge, as well as her group’s plans for a Back the Blue rally in Savannah on Monday, saying, “It’s not political...we want to let [law enforcement] know how much we love them and that we’re behind them 100%.”

Only have a minute to spare? Show your support for law enforcement by signing Heritage Action's Police Pledge now!

Over 200 elected officials and candidates have already added their names to the Pledge. This week, numerous Senators signed, including Ted Cruz (TX), Marsha Blackburn (TN), and Rick Scott (FL). Over 48,000 citizens have also signed their names. Dean Cain, the actor known for playing Superman, even tweeted out the Pledge urging his half a million followers to sign on.

The Pledge is already impacting the “Defund the Police” debate! This week, the Little Rock, Arkansas Board of Directors was being pressured to defund the city’s police department. As reported in Arkansas’ largest newspaper, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, “The board has not yet considered its budget for 2021, but at least two city directors have signed a pledge from the national conservative lobbying group Heritage Action For America, vowing that they will not support any measure that takes away funding from police. Ward 5 City Director Lance Hines and At-large City Director Joan Adcock praised the department Tuesday.”

In Iowa, a coalition of current and former law enforcement officers endorsed congressional candidate Marianette Miller-Meeks after she signed the Police Pledge, vowing not to defund the police. The Gazette reports, “Muscatine County Sheriff C.J. Ryan said in his endorsement that law enforcement is disappointed that Democratic candidate Rita Hart has chosen ‘to stay quiet when her colleagues are proposing the dismantlement of police departments. We need leaders in Washington that have our back and that is why I am proud to support Mariannette Miller-Meeks.’”

It’s not just elected officials and candidates taking a stand for police! Grassroots activists all over America continue to Fight For America, encouraging the silent majority to break its silence against the chaos and violence being perpetrated by the Left.

“Back the Blue” rally outside City Council meeting
Hundreds of police supporters filled the street and grassy areas outside a meeting of the Topeka City Council as it discussed reforming the city’s police department. The Council meeting came on the heels of the submission of over 50 reform recommendations by a commission appointed by the Mayor. Rally attendee Jessica Pereira told The Topeka Capital-Journal, “[The police department is] something that we can’t do without. We have to have police in order to maintain some sort of civility, otherwise it’s going to be the wild, wild west.” The Mayor and City Council have since sought to distance themselves from the recommendations.

NY “Back the Blue Ride”
Over 300 motorcyclists showed their support for police while riding through Wyoming County, New York over the weekend. The Sheriff of neighboring Genesee County told Spectrum News, “It’s nice to know that we have the support. It means a lot to the guys on the road and the guys in the jail. The officers sincerely appreciate this.”

Thanking ‘Hometown Heroes’ with gift cards
Sentinels Doug and Jeanne Hesse kicked off “Hometown Heroes,” a local movement to show gratitude to 235 first responders and law enforcement officers in their community by giving each of them a $100 gift certificate to a local restaurant, also helping businesses hurt by the COVID response. So far they have raised over $14,000 towards their $23,500 goal with donations coming in as a result of publicity on Facebook, NextDoor, and in local media. People in neighboring counties have noted the effort and are planning similar donation drives of their own!

Homes lit in blue in 60 neighborhoods across the county
Debra Wright organized residents in 60 neighborhoods throughout Cherokee County, Georgia to show support for law enforcement by replacing their outside light bulbs with blue bulbs. She told the Cherokee Tribune & Ledger News, “I decided to ask my neighborhood...if anyone would be interested. I got such an overwhelming response that I asked friends in neighboring subdivisions to see if their communities would be interested. They received positive feedback, so then I shared this event on a Cherokee County group on Facebook, and it just blossomed from there.” Multiple police agencies voiced their appreciation for the support in their communities.

Thousand Oaks “Back the Blue” rally
More than 100 people rallied and lined the road in Thousand Oaks, California to show support for police while waving “Back the Blue” and “Blue Lives Matter” signs and American flags. As cars honked while driving by, rally organizer Gina Libby told the crowd, “We’re here to protest the villainization of our courageous men and women in blue and the effort across the nation to defund their departments.”

“Back the Blue” truck decal
Sentinel Hugo Goerner had a “Fight For America Back the Blue” decal put on his truck to bring awareness to the Police Pledge while driving around town. If you’re interested in distributing similar “Back the Blue” yard signs, let your Regional Coordinator know!

Vital importance of Poll Workers
Sentinel Susan from Texas writes of her previous experience working the polls, “In my state, if the county elections office doesn’t get enough volunteers to fill a party’s allotment of poll workers at each polling site, then the county fills in with the other party’s surplus of poll workers,” adding that opponents of the Constitution and election law seem to always have plenty of additional trained poll workers to fill in. Without watchful eyes and faithful execution of Texas’ voter ID law, Susan warns that, “Just a handful of unqualified voters processed as qualified can change the local election outcome in down-ballot races that have the biggest impact on our daily lives: district judges, city council members, and school board trustees.”
