It’s no secret: There's been a lot of talk about how President Trump and the GOP have shamelessly manipulated electoral maps to gain an unearned advantage in the midterm election. Their cynical electoral “strategy” is a clear and dangerous affront to democracy itself.

It turns out that when power-hungry politicians try to silence the will of the people, the people themselves don’t sit on the sidelines and take it. And we’re seeing voters mobilize in parts of the country targeted by the Republican redistricting crisis.

The best way to defeat attacks on democracy is to make democracy stronger: more voters participating, more people making their voices heard. More elected officials who believe in fairness and voting rights.

That’s what we do. As we get closer to the midterms, we need to strengthen our Democracy Defender program, dedicated to electing pro-democracy champions in the most critical state-level races.
