Construction of a truly useless section of the border wall threatens to destroy Santa Elena Canyon, one of the most beautiful and ecologically sensitive parts of Big Bend National Park.

The terrain there already makes crossings extraordinarily difficult, which is why it almost never happens. There is no dispute about this. Nor about its beauty. Texas treasures this unspoiled natural preserve.

So why spend billions of taxpayer dollars scarring it and harming wildlife with an ugly steel and concrete wall?

To make money, that’s why. The owner of the construction (destruction) company is a major Trump Donor!

This is what corruption looks like: government power being used to serve private interests instead of the public good.

When the work is finished, taxpayers will be left with billions of dollars wasted, a treasured piece of Texas buried under concrete, and nothing meaningful to show for it.

We should not tolerate the destruction of Big Bend to enrich politically connected interests.
