Behind the Scenes: Election Protection

Women Winning staff attended a debrief session hosted by Wintana Melekin and Groundwork Institute, reflecting on lessons learned from the Election Protection Program pilot during the August primary. Attorney General Keith Ellison and Secretary of State Steve Simon joined the conversation, along with Rep. Emma Greenman — one of Women Winning’s endorsed candidates — who came out to share her own perspective on Primary Day.
The session brought together election protection advocates to talk through what worked, what surprised them, and how to strengthen voter protection efforts ahead of the general election. Secretary of State Steve Simon shared updates and answered questions.
We're grateful to Groundwork Institute for their work ensuring every Minnesotan can vote safely and without barriers — and we're looking forward to applying these lessons as we head toward November.
