As Labor Day approaches, I hope that you and your family are able to enjoy this end of Summer holiday in a safe, responsible manner. Our state has come a long way since the unofficial start of the season on Memorial Day, when we were just coming out of the grip of COVID-19. While we are by no means finished with this crisis, we are clearly in a stronger position now than we were then, and that is something we can all be thankful for.
Labor Day is a time to celebrate the hardworking men and women who built our country, and who continue to make our economy move forward. It makes me think about the essential workers who have continued to serve our communities during the pandemic, often at personal risk. It's also a time to reflect on the progress we've made on issues important to working families, from moving to a $15 per hour minimum wage, to guaranteeing paid sick leave to employees and much more. If you can, please chip in today to help New Jersey Democrats keep standing up for these shared priorities. [[link removed]]

Starting today, Governor Murphy's latest round of executive orders allows restaurants to resume offering indoor dining at 25% capacity and with social distancing guidelines in place. Other indoor activities are also now allowed, like theaters and performance spaces, and indoor gathering limits for previously allowed activities have been increased.

Governor Murphy continues to lead our state through the crisis by following data and science, and we join him in calling for all residents and businesses to act responsibly now that more restrictions are being removed. We can't allow New Jersey to slide backwards and the best way to prevent that is for all of us to do our part by wearing a mask in public settings, practicing social distancing, washing our hands and limiting our close contact with others.

Governor Murphy is also celebrating New Jersey's ranking as having the best public schools in America once again for the second consecutive year. This is a testament to our wonderful, dedicated teachers, school administration and staff, as well as our extraordinary students. It's also a reflection of our priorities -- under Governor Murphy's leadership, public school funding has increased significantly, giving school districts additional resources to provide our children with the best possible educational experience.

Following the Labor Day holiday, NJDSC will be working through the next two months to spotlight the many crucial elections happening right here in our state. From re-electing Senator Cory Booker, to protecting the gains we made in our Congressional delegation during the 2018 Blue Wave cycle, to defeating Jeff Van Drew and Chris Smith, to the many important local, county and state elections, 2020 is a critical year and we need your support to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. Chip in today to send a message to Donald Trump and support our Democratic candidates. [[link removed]]
