It might not surprise you to learn that the pundits have already written the ending of this race. They looked at North Dakota, saw a red state, and moved on to the contests they think actually matter. They are not watching us at all. And that is the single biggest advantage we have.

In rural Iowa, a Democrat flipped a state Senate seat in a district Donald Trump had carried by 21 points. In a Florida congressional district Trump won by 30, the Republican barely held on. Last November, Democrats won the governor's races in Virginia and New Jersey by double digits.

In the reddest corners of this country, voters keep showing up and choosing something different. North Dakota is not the exception the experts think we are. We are simply the race nobody has bothered to look at yet.

Julie Fedorchak has a million-dollar war chest and the national party behind her. We are never going to match that, and we do not need to. We need to reach far enough into every county in this state that people hear, some for the very first time, that they have a real choice in November.

That is the whole job we have to do for the next three months. Not drama. Just the difference between reaching people and leaving them in the dark.
