At Progressive Majority, we’re BIG fans of 16-year-old Greta Thunberg -- right-wing men, on the other hand, have truly deep-seated hate for this young climate activist.
Just last week, Thunberg completed her journey across the Atlantic Ocean on a zero emissions boat to attend the UN Youth Climate Talks. She had opted to sail instead of flying due to the harmful emissions planes give off.
While many cheered the young activist, she was hit with a barrage of hateful comments from right-wingers. One wished a freak accident on her boat, another called her “deeply disturbed messiah of the global warming movement,” and another far right activist attacked the “sheer petulance of this arrogant child.”
A former Trump staffer HAD to weigh in, too, calling Thunberg “the ignorant teenage climate puppet.” He also shared a far-right meme depicting Trump knocking over the Statue of Liberty to sink her boat. Right-wing extremists hate Greta because they see her as a threat -- and they’re afraid of what young people are truly capable of.
Listen, Greta was inspired to do something to mitigate the climate crisis after students at Parkland and across the country mobilized to end gun violence. Now, she’s dominating the national conversation and says the inaction on climate change will be regarded “as one of the greatest failures of humankind.” Today, we need to hear from you:
