You can still apply to DC public and public charter schools [ [link removed] ] for the 2026-27 school year by submitting a *post-lottery application* today. Your child will automatically be added to schools’ waitlists.

Healthy bodies and minds are the foundation of academic success!

All students must be up to date on their immunizations and submit the necessary health forms in order to attend school. Schedule a visit with your student’s primary care physician to complete the Universal Health Certificate [ [link removed] ] and with your student’s dentist to complete the Oral Health Assessment [ [link removed] ] before the start of school.

Submit these health forms to your student’s school as soon as they’re complete.

Students in Pre-K 3, Kindergarten, grade 7, and grade 11 must meet DC immunization requirements by *Dec. 7, 2026*, unless they have a medical or religious exemption on file.

[Partner Update] Kids Ride Free [ [link removed] ]

KRF 2026-27 [ [link removed] ]

The Kids Ride Free (KRF) program allows students to ride for free on Metro Bus or Metro Rail while traveling within the District.

To be eligible for participation in the KRF program, each student must be:


* A resident of the District of Columbia; and
* Ages 5 through 21; and
* Enrolled in an elementary or secondary public, charter, private, or parochial school located within the District, or a youth in the care of the District.

Kids Ride Free [ [link removed] ] cards for the 2026-27 school year will be distributed at your student’s enrolled school. Contact your school for distribution dates and times.
