"If you're disappointed by your elected officials, grab a clipboard, get some signatures, and run for office yourself." -- President Obama, Farewell Address 1/10/17
Three years ago, it was clear our representative wasn't delivering for our district. So I answered President Obama's call to action, picked up a clipboard and ran for Congress.
President Obama believed that each of us had the power to improve our democracy. I felt that belief in action when I served as Chief of Staff for President Obama's Auto Rescue Task Force. And that belief is what led me to run in a district that Trump won in 2016 and flip it blue in 2018.
This year, Trump and I are on the ballot together for the first time. National Republicans are investing millions in reclaiming this district, and they know they're going to get a boost from Trump's name at the top of the ticket.
Even so, I believe that our democratic ideals can triumph over divisive hate -- but I need your support to make it happen. Will you chip in to my re-election campaign and affirm President Obama's vision for our country?
