Friend --
In July the Supreme Court declined to block a Florida law requiring people with felony convictions to pay fines before they can vote -- a modern-day poll tax.
But Justice Sonia Sotomayor issued a powerful dissent, writing that the Court's order "continues a trend of condoning disfranchisement." She's right. According to CNBC, the Supreme Court's order could block 750,000 people from voting -- an enormous number in a critical swing state. It's simply an abomination.
While conservatives like those on the Supreme Court are working to narrow the voting pool, we're fighting back. The NDRC is working with our affiliates to increase voting access, block GOP attempts to suppress the vote, and pressure Republicans like Mitch McConnell to fully fund our elections.
