** Help shape the future of Public Source
------------------------------------------------------------
At Pittsburgh’s Public Source, our connection to the community is one of our greatest strengths.
Your voices inform our deep investigative reporting and first-person essays. You have embraced our team in sharing the stories of your neighborhoods through new ways like zines and events. And, our work would not be possible without the financial support of readers and members like you.
Today, we’re inviting community members to connect with Public Source in another important way: by applying to join the Public Source board of directors.
Serving on the board is an opportunity to advance Public Source’s mission through governance, fiscal oversight, advocacy, mentorship and support. Our board can best help define the future of Public Source when its members reflect the people, communities and perspectives of our region.
A strong Public Source board member:
* Is well connected to communities across our region and can build stronger connections between them and Public Source;
* Is willing to collaborate with staff and fellow board members to advance Public Source’s strategy;
* Works with staff and board to finalize annual budgets and provide fiscal oversight; has a fiduciary duty ([link removed]) to the organization and acts as a steward of public trust;
* Contributes actively to the board’s work and serves on a committee;
* Supports Public Source through event participation, sponsorship and other opportunities to extend reach; and,
* Helps identify other potential board members.
Prior board service is helpful but not required.
You can apply through this form ([link removed]) .
Nominations are due by September 9, 2026.
Public Source board members serve as uncompensated volunteers, and each term lasts three years. The board’s Governance Committee will review all nominations and recommend candidates for consideration and a vote by the full board. We are seeking 1-3 candidates who bring diversity within our current board. We will respond to all applicants to let you know the status of your application.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to help guide and strengthen Public Source.
