Friends,
We just learned that Donald Trump is moving ahead with a reckless plan to eliminate the Roadless Rule - a bedrock land conservation policy that has protected nearly 60 million acres of our national forests for a quarter century.
I’ve been warning that this was coming and we needed to be ready to fight.
Now, the Trump administration wants to open these public lands to more roadbuilding, logging, and development - threatening clean drinking water, wildlife habitat, outdoor recreation, and some of our best natural defenses against climate change and catastrophic wildfires.
Donald Trump is once again putting special interests ahead of our public lands, our communities, and the inheritance we owe future generations.
I have led the fight to protect the Roadless Rule since 2001. I have introduced legislation to make these protections permanent. And I will not stand by while Trump tries to destroy these irreplaceable pristine forestlands.
But stopping this administration from handing our public lands over to logging and development interests will take all of us. If you’re with me, will you add your name to my petition now?
Roadless areas provide clean drinking water for more than 60 million Americans. They support hunting, fishing, hiking, and thriving outdoor economies. They preserve habitat for vulnerable species and store enormous amounts of carbon.
These public lands are part of Washington’s identity and I will continue doing everything I can to protect them. But once these forests are gone, they’re gone. We cannot allow the Trump administration to make irreversible decisions without a fight.
Please, add your name now and join me in demanding that the Roadless Rule remain in place.
Thank you,
Maria
