I don't agree with Speaker Mike Johnson very often.

But he's right about one thing.

When he came to Southwest Washington last month to raise money for my opponent, he told the room that Washington's 3rd District will decide who controls the House.

He's right.

There are only a handful of true toss-up seats in the country, and this is one of them.

That's why the Speaker of the House came all the way to Southwest Washington to raise money for my opponent. 

It's why Republican outside groups have already spent or reserved nearly $7 million in advertising against me here.

And it's why national Republicans are prepared to spend even more before Election Day.

They've done the math. They know how much this seat matters.

So do I.

I've won here twice by earning the support of people who don't always agree with me, but know I'll put Southwest Washington ahead of either political party.

I don't take corporate PAC money. I don't answer to party leadership. And I'm not interested in becoming another reliable vote for whoever happens to be in charge in Washington, D.C.

That's exactly the kind of representation national Republicans are spending millions to replace.

Mike Johnson came here because Republicans believe winning this seat could keep them in control of the House.

I think that's a pretty good reason for us to fight like hell to keep it.
