Dear Jack, BREAKING: Trump just signed proclamations to dismantle Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in southern Utah, the latest in a long line of attacks on the public lands Americans cherish. |
He is attempting to slash three million acres of protections, which cuts Bears Ears to 9 percent of its original size and Grand Staircase-Escalante to just 10 percent.
His proclamation defies Intertribal collaborative management and shared stewardship of these landscapes. It also comes at a time when 91 percent of Western voters across party lines, including 86 percent of Utahns, want these monuments protected1. Demand that Congress fight back against these attacks on our beloved national monuments. |
Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante are irreplaceable. They protect sacred Tribal cultural landscapes, incredible wildlife habitats, world-renowned recreation, precious clean water, and some of the most spectacular wildlands on Earth. These places are part of America's natural legacy -- not places to industrialize and privatize for political agendas. Join us in standing alongside Tribal Nations, local communities, and people across the country to defend Bears Ears, Grand Staircase-Escalante, and all of America's national monuments. Add your name: tell Congress to defend Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante. |
