John, in a

Senate majority. But first, here is the number that came out last week.

Nate Silver's new forecast gives Democrats a 57% chance of taking the
Senate in November.

According to his analysis, it comes down to seven races — Texas, Michigan,
Maine, Ohio, Iowa, Alaska, and North Carolina — and we have to win five of
them.

That means flipping four Republican-held seats and holding the one we have
in Michigan. A year ago most people would have told you that flipping the
Senate was out of reach. Not now.

We have spent this Congress watching what the Republican majority does
with power.

Trump's own financial disclosure showed more than $2.2 billion in income
since he returned to office, and the Senate that exists to check him has
not issued a subpoena, held a hearing, or asked him to account for a
single dollar of it.

He intends to keep it that way, and he has been perfectly open about how.
Not by winning the argument. Not by winning the vote.

By making sure the vote doesn't count.

The method is already in the record: he has spent this year attacking
mail-in ballots, and he pushed Texas Republicans to redraw their map
mid-decade to hold seats his agenda could not.

So what happens to this country if the Republican Senate survives
November? Who subpoenas the disclosure then? Who tells the American people
the truth about any of it?

A 57% chance is nothing more than a coin flip, and we all need to come
together and do everything we can between now and Election Day.
