I've spent my life fighting for Washington, D.C. and the people who call this city home.

After winning our Democratic primary, a lot of people have asked me what comes next.

The answer is simple: we keep organizing.

There are House races across Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and beyond that will decide who controls Congress. And those elections will affect every family here in the District.

So today, I want to share five reasons I believe we have to do everything we can to make sure Republicans lose the House this November.

1. Families deserve a fair shot.

Too many people are working hard and still falling behind. Housing costs are too high. Groceries cost too much. Child care stretches family budgets to the breaking point. Congress should be focused on lowering costs and expanding opportunity—not protecting tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans.

2. We have to protect the freedom to make our own health care decisions.

I trust women—not politicians—to make deeply personal decisions about their own bodies. We need leaders who will defend reproductive freedom, not continue taking rights away.

3. We cannot give Donald Trump a rubber stamp.

The last thing this country needs is a Congress that refuses to hold this administration accountable. Our democracy depends on checks and balances, and that means electing leaders who will stand up when the Constitution and the rule of law are tested.

4. D.C. needs allies—not opponents.

I've seen what happens when politicians who don't understand our city try to score political points by interfering with our local government. If we're going to protect home rule and continue the fight for full representation, we need partners in Congress who believe Washingtonians deserve the same rights as every other American.

5. Elections aren't just about who wins. They're about what kind of country we choose to build.

I've always believed public service is about leaving things better than you found them. That means creating more affordable communities, investing in safer neighborhoods, protecting opportunity, and making sure every family has a chance to succeed.

Those are the values that brought me into public service, and they're the values that are on the ballot this November.

That's why our campaign is doing more than preparing for our own election. We're helping organize volunteers, build support, and strengthen Democratic campaigns in the competitive House districts that will decide the majority.

If you're able, will you make a contribution today to help me continue that work? Every dollar helps us organize more people, reach more voters, and build the coalition we'll need to move our country forward. [[link removed]?]
