Labor Day usually means one of two things -- grilling with my friends and family, or missing out because I got scheduled to work.

The fight for racial and economic justice is the fight of my life. But this Labor Day, I get to take a break and celebrate all essential workers working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, thousands around the country will gather separately to honor the essential workers like us who keep our communities safe and fed.

Join me in celebrating the work of ALL essential workers at the Tribute to Essential Workers -- a live-streamed event celebrating Labor Day by paying tribute to the folks like me working to keep us safe >> [link removed]

The Tribute to Essential Workers will feature musical performances, tributes to essential workers, live events in cities across the country, and special celebrity guests including Meryl Streep, Lucy Liu, Logan Browning, and more.

Essential workers who are disproportionately Black, people of color, immigrants, and women are being asked to sacrifice our lives. COVID-19 may be new, but systemic racism isn't.

I'm proud to be called "essential" and I'm proud to stand with other essential workers to fight for the racial and economic justice we need -- $15/hr, the right to join a union, and dignity and respect on the job.
