John, it's Becca.
This morning, I was thinking about what happened 106 years ago today. On August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified.
Generations of women organized, marched, fought, and refused to accept that they should have no say in the decisions shaping their own lives.
And more than a century later, I don’t take that victory for granted for one second.
Because while today is an anniversary worth celebrating, it’s also a reminder that progress does not simply protect itself.
We are living through a moment when fundamental rights we once thought were settled are being challenged again. We have already watched reproductive freedom stripped away across the country. We have watched attacks on voting rights continue. And we are hearing rhetoric about women and our place in society that belongs firmly in the past.
If you believe, like I do, that our job is to protect the progress generations before us fought so hard to win, I’d be so grateful if you’d chip in $10, $25, or whatever feels right today to help me keep fighting for it. [[link removed]]

I refuse to accept that going backward is our future.
I’m the first woman and first openly LGBTQ+ person Vermont has ever sent to Congress. I carry that history with me every single day, because I know none of us gets here alone.
People before us fought like hell to open doors they would never get to walk through themselves.
Our job is to make sure those doors stay open, and then open them wider for the people coming next.
And since I’m writing to friends here, I’ll just ask plainly: if you believe in what I’m fighting for, would you consider making a contribution today? [[link removed]]
So yes, today I’m celebrating. But I’m also recommitting myself to the work ahead. We will protect the right to vote, our freedoms, and the progress generations before us fought so hard to win.
And we are not going to let anyone drag us backward.
With so much gratitude,
— Becca
