Actions for the week of August 17, 2026

Greetings, Activists!

Summer is isn’t over yet, and neither is the fight for a better climate. Here is our round-up of climate-friendly actions to take this week.

Action 1

🌵🏜️🐦 Tell Congress: Protect Big Bend!

Trump has opened up Big Bend National Park for construction of another border wall we don’t need, at the cost of our natural and protected environment.

Call or email Congress to pause DHS damage inside Big Bend National Park!

Action 2

🤖✨🙅🏻‍♀️ No AI Data Centers on Federal Lands!

AI data centers bring noise, light, air, and water pollution, and can increase energy costs by astronomical amounts. It’s why 63% of Americans oppose AI data centers being built in their communities.

But destructive data centers could soon be popping up on federal lands and military bases across the country if the Pentagon gets its way. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is demanding billions of dollars for data centers that will supercharge AI-powered warfare and help fuel software used to make life-or-death decisions.

We need to act now. Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s No AI Data Centers on Federal Lands Act would BAN data centers and associated infrastructure on land owned or managed by the U.S. government, including on military bases.

Sign and send your message to your Representative and Senators demanding that they pass the No AI Data Centers on Federal Lands Act!

Action 3

🚰🌊🔧 Congress: Support the WATER Act!

Trump’s dangerous agenda is working to outright eliminate support for safe and clean water, which would seriously endanger public health. We need Congress to step up and safeguard federal support for safe water.

The WATER Act is critical legislation that would fund water and sewage system repairs, create good jobs for over 1 million people, help stop sewage overflows, and make infrastructure fixes each year.

Urge your members of Congress to co-sponsor the WATER Act (H.R.3376 and S.1730) today!
