John,

I am proud to be from Midland, Texas. But my hometown was just the scene of yet another a horrific mass shooting, this time targeting my community as they drove down I-20.

via Midland Reporter-Telegram

But it doesn’t end there. In the last 11 days, Southeast Jamaica, Queens endured an unimaginable 12 shootings, leaving seven people dead. My heart is broken, but my anger that our loved ones are dying everyday and in mass shootings grows everyday.

We must find a way to find solutions for all types of violence. In every community.

Here’s what I know: As long as our elected officials refuse to take meaningful action, our communities will continue to needlessly die from gun violence.

Today, I’m asking you to take two immediate actions to support our work towards ending gun violence:

  1. Make a donation to LIFE Camp Inc., a life-saving organization working tirelessly to reduce gun deaths in Queens, NY.
  2. Call your Senator immediately and demand they take up proposed gun violence prevention bills immediately.

Unless America forces our representatives to act, mass shootings like this weekend’s incident in my hometown will continue to happen all across the country.

We must put an end to this. Please take action today.

In solidarity,
Amber
