Dear John,

Less than 24 hours left. Help protect critically endangered habitats.

The first round of rollbacks to the Endangered Species Act was devastating. The second strike is another blow that will irreparably harm even more critically endangered species like Florida panthers and orcas. We have less than one day left to tell federal agencies that endangered species need full protection.

In August, the Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service proposed a change that modifies the meaning of “habitat” for endangered wildlife. This change prevents protection and restoration in areas that need help to recover animals and plants at risk of extinction.

Demand protections for endangered wildlife. Critical habitats must be saved and restored.

Habitat loss is the number one cause of species going extinct. For decades, the federal government has successfully restored areas of former habitats, or potential habitats, to support the recovery of endangered species. But now, it’s rolling back those protections. This will only prevent species from thriving and reclaiming their habitats.

This change was designed to open critical habitats for exploitation by Big Polluters. It would make it easier for mining, drilling, and logging companies to destroy already fragile wildlife habitats without repercussion.

Climate change is already pushing multiple species like polar bears and corals to the brink of extinction. We need every tool available to help endangered species adapt, not feed Big Polluter profits.

Tell the Fish and Wildlife Service: Don’t weaken the protections for threatened and endangered species!

This brash attempt to gut the ESA is an underhanded attack to dismantle our nation’s bedrock environmental protections and can ultimately cause public health crises. Decades of scientific studies warn that habitat destruction and biodiversity loss create a risk of zoonotic disease spillover to human populations.

Undermining the ESA erodes our ability to protect against future pandemics. It is the most effective tool for not only protecting wildlife, but also human health.

There are only a few hours left until public comments opposing this attack on ESA regulations close. John, will you take two minutes to protect endangered species?

25,000 Signatures still needed by the end of day today! Help protect endangered species.
