During an interview on Fox News earlier this week, President Trump made a false claim about my friend and colleague Sen. Cory Booker -- a lie that Trump has repeated more than once.

Why is Trump targeting Cory, the only Black Democratic man in the Senate? It's simple: He wants to stoke anger among us and divide us as a country, and he wants to turn New Jersey red this November.

In the face of Trump's attempts to divide us, we need to be more united than ever.

Cory isn't accepting corporate PAC money. His campaign solely relies on grassroots support. If you can, will you split a contribution between Cory's campaign and the Southwest Leadership Fund to help Cory overcome Trump's baseless attacks?

I've worked with Cory in the Senate for seven years and I can tell you firsthand that Cory is a thoughtful leader for New Jerseyans and Americans across the country. He's an unwavering champion for communities of color, minorities, and the underserved and has tirelessly fought for racial justice, environmental justice, and social justice.

During an unprecedented health and economic crisis, Cory has fearlessly risen to the challenge. He's put forth bold plans to support first responders, secure critical funding for health care providers, expand access to health care, save the Postal Service and protect voting rights, make sure no one goes hungry or loses their home during the pandemic, extend unemployment benefits and help small businesses keep their doors open, and implement criminal justice and police reform.

Cory is an effective leader and Trump knows it. That's why he's attacking him.
