Senator Chris Coons won’t debate Jess. Here’s what his team told WHYY:

“Regrettably, we couldn’t identify sufficient time for Senator Coons to attend this debate, as his schedule is swamped the next two weeks, and then he will be back in session the following week.”

Typically a debate is where candidates share their policy goals and vision for the future. They make time to debate because it’s important voters know what each candidate believes in.

If Coons can’t “identify sufficient time,” what’s he doing? 🤔

While the Senator is busy fighting against Medicare for All and the Green New Deal, we’re working hard to bring our policies straight to the people.

This weekend, we’re raising $9,150 — in honor of the Sept. 15 election! We need to send out our last round of mailers, and with your help, we’ll be able to reach 38,000 voters!

When Jess is in office, we know she’ll make the time to focus on what the majority of people want — healthcare, housing, clear water and air, and good-paying, stable jobs.

In our newest mailers, we’re letting voters know that Jess will never say she can’t find the time to advocate for:

• Medicare for All, by enacting a single-payer healthcare system that includes comprehensive medical, dental, vision and mental healthcare
• Equitable, clean housing, by rebuilding our infrastructure to create green buildings that can withstand climate change.
• A living wage, which will keep up with inflation.

We learn a lot about our legislators by seeing the kinds of campaigns they run. Jess’s campaign is backed by working-class people. It’s backed by students struggling to afford college. It’s backed by renters who lost their jobs during the COVID crisis. It’s backed by uninsured essential workers.
