Scranton Joe? More like Beijing Biden.

Washington Examiner (9/2/20) column "Joe Biden and running mate Sen. Kamala Harris are both on record opposing innovative drilling techniques that have transformed Pennsylvania into a major energy producer. The former vice president expressed his hostility toward the process of hydraulic fracturing, widely known as 'fracking,' during a March debate with Sen. Bernie Sanders. Biden also told an Iowa voter he would 'love to” ban fracking all across America and make sure the country 'can’t use any oil or gas, period.'...Tom Pyle, president of the free market-promoting Institute for Energy Research, has put it very well. 'Pennsylvania’s strength is America’s strength,' he said. 'As part of the wider shale revolution, the Marcellus basin has contributed to production gains that have made America the world leader in natural gas supply, a net oil and gas exporter, and a major player in liquefied natural gas trade.' Pyle continued: 'But instead of capitalizing on the world-class energy resources that Pennsylvania has been blessed with, Biden wants to coax our economy towards costlier, less reliable renewable energy whose market is largely controlled by China.'"

"Beware of green climate ideology, because it comes with exceedingly high costs, very low benefits and limited choice – and freedom – for consumers."

ReCharge (9/4/20) reports: "The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) plans to merge into a new clean energy industry body that will also include some of the largest US utilities, in a bid to make renewables 'the dominant power source in America' AWEA, the US wind industry’s main representative body, is being tipped to join the likes of NextEra Energy, Berkshire Hathaway Energy and Iberdrola-controlled Avangrid in the American Clean Power Association (ACPA). AWEA confirmed to Recharge that it plans to join the new lobbying group to reflect the shift of renewables towards an 'integrated, multi-technology future'...The move comes as the US prepares for a presidential election that’s seen by many as a watershed for the prospects for clean energy in the next thirty years. Research group Wood Mackenzie this week said a win for Democrat Joe Biden could turbocharge the energy transition in the US, while a victory for incumbent Donald Trump could sink hopes of decarbonizing the power sector for decades."

Rush nails it.

Fox News (9/2/20) reports: "Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden pulled an obvious and hypocritical flip-flop maneuver Monday when he claimed he does not plan to ban fracking if elected president, syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh argued Tuesday. During a March debate with primary rival Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Biden said there would be 'no more -- no new fracking' if he is elected. Similarly, in a July 2019 debate, Biden aswered 'No' when asked by CNN's Dana Bash: 'Would there be any place for fossil fuels, including coal and fracking, in a Biden administration?' 'We would work it out. We would make sure it's eliminated and no more subsidies for either one of those, either -- any fossil fuel,' Biden added...The host suggested that the Trump campaign 'flood the airwaves' with Biden's earlier comments about banning fracking, a move critics have said would doom the already fragile economy in Pennsylvania. '[Banning fracking] is the centerpiece of the Green New Deal and of the radical left agenda and Biden just threw it under the bus,' Limbaugh said. 'I'm happy to furnish the tape to anybody in the Trump campaign that wants it.'"

Nothing like being incapable of keeping the lights on in his state. What could possibly go wrong?

E&E News (9/3/20) reports: "EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler and California Gov. Gavin Newsom clashed today over the Trump administration easing restrictions on wastewater discharges from coal-fired power plants. 'Nothing like dumping some good old arsenic into our rivers. What could go wrong,' Newsom (D) tweeted, linking to a New York Times article outlining EPA's new effluent limitations guidelines. Wheeler countered, saying he hopes the governor watches his speech today at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda, Calif., where he'll outline the administration's environmental accomplishments and highlight 'disastrous environmental policies CA has enacted that have harmed residents.' The EPA chief also took aim at Newsom's criticism of the wastewater guidelines, writing, 'Also, the rule he's referencing actually reduces pollution by nearly a million pounds per year over the 2015 Obama Administration rule.'"
