John, A man named Dennis Kirk who helped author Project 2025 has been selected by Trump to be Inspector General for the Interior Department. Normally this might be a minor post that would not make headlines, but Kirk has been charged by Trump with reversing the conclusion that the Reflecting Pool renovation disaster was caused by incompetence, instead of vandalism as Trump baselessly insists. Kirk was an adviser to former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who infamously oversaw the raid on the election office in Fulton County, Georgia where official paper ballots cast in the 2020 election were seized. Kirk is also a staff member at the Heritage Foundation — the far right think tank that delivered Project 2025, the authoritarian playbook that Trump has been working off of since he took office in January 2025. As a co-author of Project 2025, Kirk helped draw up the very blueprint that Trump relies on to focus his attacks on courts and systematically weaken the power and independence of the judiciary.
