POCKET CHANGE LIVE featuring BIANCA LAWSON
THURSDAY, September 10, 3 pm ET
On our next edition of the Pocket Change Instagram Live series hosted by Ms. Foundation CEO and President Teresa C. Younger, we welcome acclaimed actress and advocate Bianca Lawson.
Bianca has been in the business for over 20 years, acting since the age of nine. A few of her most memorable appearances include the cult series’ Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Dawson’s Creek, Pretty Little Liars, Secret Life of the American Teenager, Teen Wolf as well as the feature film Save The Last Dance opposite Julia Stiles. Bianca currently stars in the critically acclaimed series Queen Sugar (OWN) produced by Ava Duvernay. The series won Best TV Drama by the African-American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) in 2016-2018 and earned nominations from the NAACP Image Awards and People’s Choice Awards for Outstanding Drama Series and Favorite Cable TV Drama respectively.
For our conversation, she’ll discuss her reflections on women of color leadership in the entertainment world and her thoughts on our new report, Pocket Change, How Women and Girls of Color do More with Less, which we produced in partnership with Strength In Numbers Consulting Group. Released last month, Pocket Change, reveals that total philanthropic giving per woman and girl of color was just $5.48 in 2017. For our accompanying IG Live series, Teresa is in conversation with leaders on how we can ensure that women and girls of color on the frontlines are receiving the support they desperately need.
