John,
I know it's late, but my mind is racing thinking about these Senate
Leadership Fund ads — called “SLF” for short.
SLF is a Super PAC with a sole focus on electing Republicans to the
Senate. By Election Day, they will have spent $51 million — possibly more
— on Michigan alone.
Just like the $70 million we were up against in the primary, it’s hard to
even fathom that amount of money.
But despite how scary that sounds, I still believe we’re going to win in
November. Here’s why:
The Senate Leadership Fund has run this playbook before, in races just
like ours. It spends millions trying to bury campaigns that won't play by
its rules — and in almost every one of those races, one of two scenarios
plays out:
1. When a campaign has the resources to tell its own story and break
through the noise, SLF's ads don't land.
2. When a campaign runs dry, gets overwhelmed, and can't respond, that's
when the ads seal their fate.
So the honest answer to whether we get to defy the odds once again in
November isn't complicated. It comes down to whether we have enough
grassroots power to keep running our own ads, reaching our own voters, and
holding onto our story before SLF defines it for us.
John, I fully
trust that our team has what it takes to out-maneuver and out-organize
$51+ million. I've put my faith in you since the very beginning, and
you've never let me down.
I wouldn't be writing to you this late if I didn't believe what you do
tonight matters to what happens in this race. So please, if you can pitch
in $5 or any amount so we can keep our ads on the air and
our story in our own hands, it would make a real difference. Can I count
on your support?
